Art of Decor in Kiln-Formed Glass

Introduction to the Art of Decor in Kiln-Formed Glass w/ Michael Miro
Miro will first offer an overview of 20th century functional decor, assisting students in design ideas for the work they will pursue in this class. Moving forward into glass cutting, straight, curved cuts and circles will be practiced as the student begins to realize their design in glass. The basics of kiln forming, from types of glass and molds for slumping to firing schedules, will be explored through discussion and samples. Students will come away with two fused and slumped glass plates and will accomplish the fundamentals necessary to pursue their own projects in fused and slumped glass through the TIGA COMMUNITY ACCESS STUDIO.
Level: Beginning - Intermediate
